What's actually inside this bed?

Two layers, seven inches total. A soft memory-foam comfort layer on top, over a firm high-density support core that carries the weight.

The full specification — support core density, memory layer density, firmness (ILD) and compression set — is published on this page. Those four numbers are what separate a bed that still supports your dog in year three from one that is a mat by spring.

How does it help him day to day?

A dense support core spreads his weight across the whole surface instead of letting his hips, shoulders and elbows press through to the floor.

It also gives him something firm to push off when he stands. A soft, collapsed bed does the opposite — he sinks in and has to work harder to rise. Most owners notice the difference in the morning first.

This is a comfort and support product, not a medical treatment. If your dog is in pain, please see your veterinarian.

What makes STRAY different?

We publish the numbers. "Orthopedic" is not a regulated word — it appears on sixty-dollar beds and three-hundred-dollar beds alike and carries no legal definition.

Density, firmness and compression set are the three measurements that actually decide whether a bed holds up. Almost nobody prints them. Ours are on this page, and you are welcome to take them to any bed you are comparing.

How long will it last?

That is exactly what compression set measures — the percentage of thickness foam permanently loses under sustained load. Ours is published above.

A bed built from shredded fill or a single soft slab has no meaningful answer to that question, which is why you will rarely see one asked.

The cover unzips and machine washes, and a waterproof liner underneath keeps the foam dry, so the bed does not get retired for being dirty either.

Shipping and returns

Free shipping across the United States, no minimum. Orders are processed within 1–2 business days and you get a tracking link by text.

Your bed ships vacuum-compressed. Unroll it and give it 24 to 48 hours to reach full height — it will look thin at first, which is normal for dense foam.

30-night trial. If he will not sleep on it, email us for a full refund — and you do not ship it back. Donate it to a local shelter, send us the receipt, and we refund you from there.

למה לשים משקפי בלו לייט?

Spreads the load

When foam bottoms out, his weight stops distributing and starts concentrating on hips, shoulders and elbows. A dense core spreads it across the whole contact area instead.

Easier to get up

A bed that is too soft is harder for a stiff dog to rise from — he sinks in with nothing to push against. A firm surface gives him something to work with.

Off the cold floor

Stiff joints and cold tile are a bad combination. Seven inches of dense foam puts real distance between them, all night long.

Built to last

Every point above only matters if the foam has held its shape. That is what compression set measures — and why we publish ours.

He sleeps 14 hours a day.
The bed he does it on is the most-used thing you will ever buy him.

You picked his food. You picked his vet. You read the label on his supplement. Then he lies down for fourteen hours on a bed that gave up last spring.

Press your hand into it. If your hand reaches the floor, so do his hips.

Most dog beds are loose fill or a single slab of soft foam. They feel fine in the store. Eight months of a sixty-pound dog later they are a mat, and he is sleeping on the floor with a cover over it.

This one is seven inches — a soft comfort layer over a firm high-density support core — and we publish the density, firmness and compression-set numbers so you do not have to take our word for any of it.

Adult dogs sleep 12 to 14 hours a day. Seniors sleep more. Nothing else you buy him comes close.

What you need to know

The Orthopedic Dog Bed

Everything worth asking before you spend the money:

How do I know it will not flatten?

Compression set — the percentage of thickness foam permanently loses under sustained load. It is published on this page. Ask any bed you are comparing for the same number; most brands cannot give it to you, and that itself is the answer.

What makes this different from a $60 orthopedic bed?

Construction and disclosure. A single soft slab and a seven-inch multi-layer support core can carry the same word on the label. Density, firmness and compression set are what actually separate them, and we print all three.

Which dogs is this for?

Any dog who lies down — which is all of them. It matters most for seniors, for large breeds carrying real weight through their joints, for small breeds prone to back trouble, and for any dog living on tile or hardwood.

Can I actually keep it clean?

Yes, and that is not a small thing. The cover unzips and goes in the machine. A waterproof liner underneath keeps the foam itself dry through wet paws, accidents and senior dogs. A bed you cannot clean becomes a bed you throw away.

Who needs this most?

The one thing you buy him that he actually uses

Think about what you have bought your dog this year.

The leash he wears for an hour a day. The bowl he stands at for four minutes. The toy that lasted a week. The supplement you hope is working, because you cannot see it working.

Now think about the bed. Twelve to fourteen hours a day, every day, for years. There is no other object in his life that comes close — and it is almost always the one nobody thinks twice about.

That is the whole reason this brand exists. Not because a bed is exciting, but because it is the single most-used thing he owns, and most of them are built to be thrown away.

Get the surface right and you have fixed the biggest part of his day.

For senior dogs

For large breeds

For hard floors

For every night, for years.

Know this feeling?

You bought him a bed. A good one, you thought. It looked thick in the photo and it felt solid in the store.

Then one evening you notice he has walked past it and lain down on the floor instead — and when you press your hand into the bed, you understand why. It gave up months ago and nobody told you.

Here is what we did about it 👇

You have questions?
We have answers.

If you're comparing beds, these are the things that actually separate them.

Anything we haven't covered here, email us — a real person answers.

What exactly is this bed?

A seven-inch orthopedic dog bed: a soft memory-foam comfort layer over a firm high-density support core, with a raised bolster headrest, a removable machine-washable cover and a waterproof inner liner. Built so a full-grown dog can sleep on it every night for years without it turning into a mat.

Who is it for?

Any dog who lies down, which is all of them. It matters most for seniors, large breeds carrying real weight through their joints, small breeds prone to back trouble, and any dog living on tile or hardwood.

Which size do I need?

Measure him nose to tail while he is lying stretched out on his side, then add six inches. That is your minimum length. Dogs sprawl more than they curl, so if you are between sizes, size up. Full measurements are on our Size Guide, and if you email us his measurement and weight we will just tell you.

Will it flatten?

Compression set is the number that answers this, and ours is published on this page. It is the measured percentage of thickness foam permanently loses under sustained load. Lower is better. A bed built from shredded fill or a single soft slab has no meaningful answer to that question.

My dog is old and stiff. Will this help him get up?

A firm, supportive surface gives a dog something to push off, where a soft collapsed bed gives him nothing. Most owners notice the difference in the morning first.

This is a comfort and support product, not a medical treatment. If your dog is in pain, please see your veterinarian — supportive bedding is one part of what vets routinely recommend for joint stiffness, not a substitute for care.

Should I stop giving him his joint supplement?

That is a conversation for your veterinarian, not for us. Nothing about this bed replaces anything your vet has recommended.

How long does shipping take, and why does it arrive flat?

Shipping within the US is free with no minimum. Orders are processed in 1–2 business days and you get a tracking link by text.

The bed ships vacuum-compressed — the only sane way to move seven inches of foam across the country. Unroll it and give it 24 to 48 hours to reach full height. It will look thin at first; dense foam takes its time expanding, which is the same property that stops it collapsing later.

What if he just will not use it?

You get 30 nights. If he will not sleep on it, email us for a full refund — and you do not need to ship it back. Donate it to a local shelter or rescue, send us the receipt, and we refund you from there. A dog who needs a good bed gets one, and nothing ends up in a landfill.
